David Allan David Allan of Strategic Leisure (NZ) Ltd. draws on close to 30 years’ experience in the leisure industry and 15 years as a consultant planner. Prior to consulting he had a succession of key roles with the Hillary Commission (now called SPARC), the Minister of Recreation and Sport, the Health Sponsorship Council and Sport Tasman. As a consultant, David has worked predominantly with local authority clients, facility trusts and several national sports organisations including SPARC. He has extensive experience in strategic and facility planning, with strong skills in demand analysis, need, and feasibility assessment, facility specification, resource allocation systems and policy development.
Gareth Moore-Jones Gareth Moore-Jones of Ideaus Ltd. has been involved in the leisure industry for over a decade in roles including local government community services provision and as executive director of the New Zealand Recreation Association. Gareth has expertise in strategic planning, leisure planning analysis, project management, organisation and stakeholder liaison, professional development planning and event based management. Gareth has knowledge of international perspectives from study trips in the UK, Europe, USA and Australia and brings to GLG a significant network.
Peter Burley Peter Burley has 25 years history in sport and leisure including roles in local government as a Senior Sport and Recreation Adviser, Parks and Recreation Manager and Sport Facility Manager. As a senior academic staff member in the CPIT Business School he teaches Leadership, Management and Event Management, and established the Diploma in Applied Recreation, CircoArts and the Graduate Diploma in Event Management courses. Peter's specialties include sport club strategic and governance planning, sportville and sport club partnerships, hubs and co-operative collectives, health and safety plan development, risk assessment, community recreation research, recreation management, sport and recreation facility development and use, and sport event concept planning.
Rob Greenaway Rob Greenaway of Rob Greenaway & Associates has more than 20 years recreation planning consultancy experience. He has worked throughout New Zealand and in several countries in the Pacific and Asia on projects ranging from ecotourism planning for potential World Heritage Sites in the Solomon Island to small-scale reserve management plans. Rob’s specialties include open space planning, asset management planning for parks, reserves, other natural areas and properties, expert witness evidence and tourism and recreation development planning. He is a widely published photographer and journalist. Rob is an Accredited Recreation Professional with the NZ Recreation Association and an inaugural member of the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Recreation Council within SPARC.
Gary Henshall Garry Henshall and Associates Pty. Ltd. is based in Victoria and services the Australia, Asia and Pacific leisure industries with a broad range of planning and business management services. The company is recognised as one of the key sport and recreation consultancy companies in the region. Its team offers a combined total of over 30 years experience with specialities in facility, open space planning and leisure management. Janet Mackay Janet Mackay of Planning for People Pty. Ltd. is a recreation, tourism and environmental planner based in the Snowy Mountains, New South Wales. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) degree, Graduate Diploma in Recreation Planning, Masters Applied Science (Park Management) and a Diploma of Education. She has a long history in natural area management, recreation and tourism planning, and community and stakeholder consultation developed over twenty years in the public and private sectors. Much of her work has involved the development of strategic approaches to recreation and tourism issues, and the management of natural areas. She has a strong track record in successful management of operational environments including financial reviews, budget development, revenue enhancement and the planning, management and development of infrastructure and other assets in tourism environments.
